i think the best way is just start with casual greetings, or common interests. then continue from there. I mean if you guys don't know each other that well, might be a good idea to start off as friends and get to know each other a bit more. link ur common interests in the convos and make funny comments that will make your crush laugh and have a good time. then after a while, maybe you can take all that you learnt and propose an outing w/ the person you like. =]

i know these seem like hard to say but if you do it over text message or IM its gives you less chance to look like, no offense, a pig. and if you're having second thoughts about saying it its probably not best to say it until your comfortable
