Ask him what he thinks and be sure to tell him what you think without making him sound like an idiot. Tell him that you have seen him around and he seems pretty cool. Just talk to him like you would anyone else and eventually as you talk just tell him that you would like to hang out with him sometime. Dont ask him this just make a statement that he would be fun to hang around. Its important with shy guys and most other guys to let him take the action. If he is smart he should get the clue and make things happen no matter how shy he is. Also make sure that you dont say or make remarks negatively about his friends to ensure he asks you to hang with his friends, or make your friends cool with him and setup some event to hang out like the movies or whatever.
